Matt is a criminal defense attorney who represents clients in all aspects of criminal litigation. He has been an attorney across the Sacramento and Northern California area for the last 12 years. He has tried complex jury trials to verdict in Sacramento County, Contra Costa County, and Butte County.



He began his career at the Butte County District Attorney's Office where he handled misdemeanors, DUI's, juvenile crimes, collaborative courts, economic crime, violent felonies, special victims, and homicides. He then worked at the California Attorney General's Office handling complex white-collar cases, public corruption, and officer involved shooting investigations and prosecutions of shooting officers. He litigated cases in counties across Northern and Central California. He has also worked at the Sacramento District Attorney's Office handling general felonies.



Matt graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law with Distinction. Matt received honors for Trial Advocacy and Government Law. In addition, for the past four years, Matt has been an Adjunct Professor of Trial Advocacy at Pacific McGeorge School of Law. He coaches the Mock Trial Team and teaches a course on plea bargaining. Matt also has an extensive background in theater and improv performance which cross trains him for his work the court room. He is an active outdoorsman and enjoys hiking, backpacking, and mountaineering across California's vast wildernesses.
