Nate is a founding partner at Nelson Jones. Prior to starting his own law firm, Nate was an associate at Alverson Taylor Mortensen & Sanders in Las Vegas, Nevada and at Mumford Rawson in Salt Lake City, Utah. While in Nevada, Nate practiced in all areas of civil litigation with an emphasis in insurance defense, construction defect, and personal injury. At Mumford Rawson, Nate practiced in all areas of civil litigation with an emphasis in family law. Nate currently practices in the areas of criminal defense, appellate law, family law, administrative law and personal injury.

Prior to attending law school, Nate graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Midwestern State University, in Wichita Falls, Texas. While at Midwestern, Nate received various scholarships including an athletic scholarship to play shooting guard for the men's basketball team.

Nate attended law school at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law where he received a Juris Doctorate in 2009. During law school, Nate received a CALI award for the highest grade in Civil Procedure and worked as a teaching assistant for the first year legal writing class. He also played on the University of Utah Racquetball Team.

Nate is married and has four children. He enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, playing racquetball, riding dirtbikes, playing basketball, mountain biking, and fishing.

Bret W. Rawson is a founding member of Nelson Jones. He is a seasoned litigator with graduate-level training and experience in crisis communications. He specializes in the representation of peace officers and is a former reserve officer for a local Utah police department where he worked in patrol and in the detectives' division. His litigation experience involves white collar criminal defense, complex civil litigation, and both administrative and plaintiff’s work on behalf of law enforcement officers and their families.

Bret specializes in the legal representation of Police Officers, and select organizational representation. That representation primarily involves appearances before Administrative Tribunals, District Courts, the Utah Court of Appeals, as well as Utah’s Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) for FOP members, but also general counsel services for the Utah FOP, among others.

As a POST graduate and a Reserve Officer in a Utah city, Bret was introduced to the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) by his peers and instructors. This introduction was the inception of his pursuit towards making the lives of law enforcement officers better, both on the job and after retirement or separation is forthcoming.

Victor's interest in personal injury law comes from his drive to make a difference in the lives of those around him. Victor graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors Degree in Latin American studies. After his Bachelor’s Degree and some time working in higher education, Victor attended Pepperdine University School of Law. In addition to receiving his juris doctorate, Victor received a certificate of entrepreneurship and technology law during his schooling. Victor also spent a semester studying law in London to study international law, European Union law, and sampling every kind of chocolate he could.

Victor has been practicing law since passing the California Bar after graduation in 2003. Before joining Nelson Jones Victor practiced personal injury with Robert J Debry, and associates. Prior to Debry he practiced immigration, criminal, civil, contract, law, and more as a general practitioner. This broad experience gives Victor a more comprehensive view of his clients’s unique situation. Victor has been licensed to practice Utah law in Utah since 2005.

Victor is an active member of his community, he served on the Summit County Library board for five years. After the death of his first child, he and his wife started a nonprofit organization called A Good Grief, which helps people deal with loss and offers financial help for parents who have lost a child to pay for headstones. He knows from first-hand experience that no matter how bad there is hope for good days, joy and laughter in your future.

Outside the office, Victor is a voracious reader, a fan of history and science and a lifelong learner. He practices Muay Thai, and listens to podcasts. After years of training Victor is a laundry ninja. He is dedicated to his beautiful wife and three exceptional children.
