Earl G. Schaffer

Earl Schaffer is from Mamaroneck, New York. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1967.

He attended law school at George Washington University in Washington, DC, and received his Juris Doctorate from George Washington University in 1971. During and following law school Mr. Schaffer served six years in the Maryland National Guard and United States Army Reserve.

Mr. Schaffer is admitted to practice before the Maryland Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association and the Anne Arundel County Bar Association.

Mr. Schaffer clerked for the judges of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, Maryland, and was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maryland. He was an early member of the Annapolis Environmental Commission.

Mr. Schaffer has been active with the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce, serving as its President in 1993. He served on the Anne Arundel County Severna Park Small Area Plan Committee. He is a member of ASPIRE, an organization dedicated to the future planning of the Severna Park community.

Mr. Schaffer concentrates his practice in condominium law, homeowners associations, business formation and representation, real estate, wills and trusts, estate administration, and general litigation.

Kimberly Corbin Aviles

Kim is the managing attorney for the wills, estates and trusts practice. Kim has a Bachelor of Arts cum laude (Economics and History) from the University of Richmond. After college Kim attended the University of Maryland School of Law where she graduated with Honor in 1986.

Immediately after graduation from law school, Kim was the a law clerk for the Honorable Robert L. Karwacki on the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. After her clerkship with Judge Karwacki, Kim was an associate in the Estates and Trusts Department at Frank, Bernstein, Conaway and Goldman in Baltimore from 1987 through 1990. At Frank, Bernstein, Kim concentrated her practice in estate planning (drafting wills, trusts and powers of attorney), administration of estates, trust administration and fiduciary income tax preparation, federal estate tax and gift tax.

In 1990 Kim joined Corbin, Schaffer & Aviles, Chartered where she continues to concentrate in estate and tax planning, preparation of wills, trusts and powers of attorney, administration of trusts and estates, and income tax preparation for fiduciaries, as well as estate and gift tax returns.

In addition to her active practice Kim has served as an instructor at the Anne Arundel Community College in Estates and Trusts and paralegal studies. She has served on various committees of the Maryland State and Anne Arundel County Bar Associations and was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Anne Arundel County Bar Association.

Kim is a past president of both the Anne Arundel Community College Foundation and the Severn School Alumni Association. Kim is admitted to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Supreme Court.

Ann L. Lamdin

Ann Lamdin is a 1987 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and served on the Moot Court Board.

Following graduation from law school Ann became an associate at Frank, Bernstein, Conaway & Goldman in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1992, Ann joined Piper & Marbury, L.L.P. (now DLA Piper, L.L.P.) and she was elected a partner in that firm in 1997.

In 1999, Ann joined her current firm, Corbin, Schaffer & Aviles, located in Severna Park, MD, where she chairs the firm's immigration practice group. She represents high-technology and start up businesses, as well as many major employers in the healthcare, banking, insurance, manufacturing and consulting industries.

Ann is recognized as an expert in her field, publishing many articles and chapters in immigration and employment-related publications and general access periodicals. Ann is a frequent presenter and participant in continuing legal education, professional seminars, and graduate and undergraduate level instruction.

In 1995, the American Immigration Lawyers Association awarded Ann its Joseph Minsky Young Lawyer award. She has also been recognized as one of Baltimore's Best Lawyers by Baltimore Magazine. She holds the highest possible peer rating for ethical standards and legal ability ("AV/Preeminent") from Martindale-Hubbell.

Annually since 2006, Ann has been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2015 in the field of Immigration Law. E. Anne Hamel

E. Anne Hamel is a litigator with experience before federal and state courts as well as administrative agencies. Ms. Hamel advises clients on commercial matters, such as breach of contract and business torts, and has extensive experience in the areas of domestic law and worker's compensation. Before joining Corbin, Schaffer & Aviles, Charted, Ms. Hamel was an associate with the Venable LLP where she was a member of the litigation department from 1991 - 2002.

Ms Hamel graduated cum laude from Princeton University where she majored in Politics. Ms. Hamel obtained her law degree in 1990 from the University of Virginia. She is a former law clerk to the late Honorable Edward S. Northrop of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1991.

Melody K. Eaton

Melody K. Eaton is native Marylander who graduated from the University of Maryland in College Park in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics. After college, Ms. Eaton began her career in public service by working for a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Maryland. Eaton pursued a career in government and public affairs, and then attended The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where she graduated in 2008.

After graduating from law school, Eaton joined the U.S. Department of Justice as a Trial Attorney through the Attorney General's Honor Program. At DOJ, Eaton worked in the Civil Division, where she handled numerous litigation matters to help uphold and defend U.S. immigration laws in the federal courts of appeals.

Before joining Corbin, Schaffer & Aviles, Eaton devoted herself to pro bono work with Maryland Legal Aid where she providing legal assistance to self-represented litigants in connection with family law matters, including custody, visitation rights, child support, parental rights and domestic violence protection. Eaton also provided pro bono assistance to Jacksonville Area Legal Aid in Florida to help serve its indigent clients, and received a 2012 Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award for her efforts.

Ms. Eaton is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Anne Arundel County Bar Association. She is also admitted to the Maryland State Bar, and has practiced in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Circuits.
