Charles C. Carella

Charles C. Carella, has been a member of Carella, Byrne, Cecchi, Olstein, Brody & Agnello since 1976 and is Chairman of the Executive Committee. He has extensive experience in many areas of corporate practice, including mergers and acquisitions, bank finance, both state and federal administrative matters, plus environmental and solid waste matters. He has appeared on numerous occasions before the Board of Public Utilities in all forms of utility matters, and has served as a Trustee/Receiver in matters initiated by the Federal Trade Commission, Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal District Court for the District of New Jersey and has served as Provisional Director upon appointment by the Superior Court of the State of New Jersey, Chancery Division.

Brendan T. Byrne

Brendan T. Byrne, graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. degree in 1949 and received an LL.B. degree from Harvard Law School in 1950.
He served as Prosecutor of Essex County, New Jersey; as President of the New Jersey Public Utility Commission; as Assignment Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court; and then as Governor of New Jersey from 1974-1982.

Peter G. Stewart

Peter G. Stewart, recently retired from active practice at the firm and now serving in a counsel status, was a member of Carella, Byrne, Cecchi, Olstein, Brody and Agnello, P.C. since 1979. Elliot M. Olstein

Elliot M. Olstein, a member of the Executive Committee, has broad experience in intellectual property law including securing patent protection; licensing of technical information and patents; infringement and validity opinions; evaluating intellectual property rights for investors; and intellectual property litigation. His particular areas of expertise include chemical and biochemical inventions with particular emphasis on their medical applications.

He also has experience in corporate law and business financing, including venture capital financing, with specific emphasis on technically-oriented business.

Jan Alan Brody

Jan Alan Brody, a member of the Executive Committee, and has been with the firm of Carella, Byrne, Cecchi, Olstein, Brody & Agnello (and it's predecessors) for his entire career.

James E. Cecchi

James E. Cecchi, a Partner in the firm's Litigation Department, specializes in complex civil and chancery litigation in both federal and state courts including class action and multidistrict litigation. Mr. Cecchi joined the firm in 1994 after serving in the United States Department of Justice as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey. In that capacity, Mr. Cecchi participated in significant criminal prosecutions involving money laundering, narcotics smuggling and violations of federal firearms laws. A. Richard Ross

A. Richard Ross is a firm partner and member of the Litigation and Corporate Departments. He has more than 30 years of experience in civil litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Over the years, Mr. Ross has represented clients in securities litigation, complex commercial litigation, business and personal injury torts, legal malpractice defense, commercial and residential foreclosures, bank regulation and governance, and international litigation and transactions. He has extensive experience in equitable matters. At the request of the courts, Mr. Ross has served as equitable receiver, and has counseled special fiscal agents and provisional directors in corporate shareholder disputes. For example, Mr. Ross served as co-lead counsel in Treasurer of New Jersey v. AOL-Time Warner, Inc. securities litigation.

Building on his years as counsel to lending institutions, and as lead counsel in federal equitable receivership's and representing bankruptcy trustees, Mr. Ross developed expertise in recovery of assets, including those placed in offshore asset protection trusts. He was lead counsel to the federal receiver in Securities and Exchange Commission vs. Eddie Antar, and recovered the most funds, at the time, ever realized in a contested SEC enforcement action. Mr. Ross also has provided representation to a variety of companies in a wide range of transactions including joint ventures for chemical manufacturing and distribution in India, Mexico, and Zimbabwe, technology sharing and transfer agreements with leading United States military contractors, and automotive parts manufacturers in the United States, Germany and Sweden. He has represented domestic companies in their businesses in China, Germany, Hungary and Japan.

Carl Woodward

Carl Woodward has been practicing law for over 40 years and has been with Carella Byrne since 1990. He has a broad integrated practice with specializations in environmental, municipal, zoning and planning, real estate, insurance and criminal law, and litigation in State and federal courts.

In 1971, Mr. Woodward was appointed an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, and served as Chief of the Environmental Protection Division. Lindsey H. Taylor

Lindsey H. Taylor has been with Carella Byrne since 2002, concentrating his practice in complex commercial litigation in federal court. Mr. Taylor has been honored with an AV rating by Martindale Hubbell and by Super Lawyers as one of the top attorneys in New Jersey.

Caroline F. Bartlett

Caroline Bartlett is a partner in the firm's civil litigation department, concentrating her practice in the area of consumer fraud and securities class action litigation, as well as general commercial and employment matters. Richard K. Matanle

Francis C. Hand

Francis C. Hand, has been of counsel with the firm since April 2000. He was a partner in the patent law firm of Kenyon & Kenyon for over twenty years and later moved his practice from the patent firm of McAulay, Nissen, Goldberg, Kiel and Hand in New York to New Jersey. Raymond W. Fisher

Raymond W. Fisher has been "Of Counsel" to the firm since 2003. He focuses his practice on litigation and appeals in all state and federal courts. Raymond J. Lillie

Raymond J. Lillie has been with Carella, Byrne, Cecchi, Olstein, Brody & Agnello since 1986. He has practiced in the area of intellectual property during this time. Dr. Alan J. Grant

Dr. Alan J. Grant has practiced patent law since 1986. Dr. Grant graduated from St Francis College, Brooklyn, New York in 1972 with a B.S. degree in Biology, a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biochemistry from SUNY-Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York, and a Juris Doctor Degree from Brooklyn Law School. Donald A. Ecklund

Donald A. Ecklund focuses his practice on all aspects of complex commercial disputes, environmental litigation, consumer fraud, and class action litigation.
