Charla Moore

Born: Durant, Oklahoma, October 27, 1951 Charla Moore, an experienced attorney with more than 30 years in the Family Law arena, spent the first 10 years of her legal career involved in the litigation of Family Law cases in Tarrant, Dallas and surrounding counties. Mediation became an important part of her practice after training in General and Family Law Mediation. Before her appointment as an Associate Judge in the Family Courts, she was heavily involved in both litigation and Mediation. In 2008 she resumed the practice of law and mediation with her husband of 52 years, Jim. Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1995, Charla is a member of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a fellow of the Tarrant County Bar Foundation and the Texas Family Law Foundation. She has, with her experience as a Family Law Associate Judge, a triple perspective from the bench, counsel table and the mediation process. She is intimately familiar with the judicial system from the position of Judge as well as an active advocate for clients and as a Family Law Mediator. Custody litigation, while often the most emotionally charged of Family Law cases, is also a favorite for litigation.

I prefer not to try custody cases unless they really need court intervention, but they are certainly the most rewarding.

Mediation continues to be an integral part of Charla\'s practice with both private referrals and frequent appointments by Family Law Judges.

I contend that most cases settled in Mediation, without the emotional and financial strain of litigation., often lead to final resolutions that do not require court intervention in later years.

Joe Lopez

Joe has been an attorney since 1983. He attended New Mexico State University and graduated from law school in San Francisco, California. Joe moved to Dallas in 1983 where he was an attorney for the U.S. government with duty stations in Dallas, New York, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Joe has represented a myriad of clients in cases involving personal injury, including premises liability, vehicle (car, truck, motorcycle) accidents, and wrongful death. Additionally, Joe has been involved in many interesting cases including HIV litigation, wrongful death, and medical malpractice, including neonatal injuries and infectious disease cases resulting in death.

He has also represented clients in criminal cases, bankruptcy, civil practice, employment, and immigration. Joe practices law throughout the State of Texas and is also admitted to practice in federal court.

Joe's first and foremost responsibility is to his clients. Joe strives to maintain the highest ethical and legal standards in the practice of law. He knows that each client's case is that particular client's most important case.

Joe's bilingual (English/Spanish) capabilities have proven to be an invaluable asset because he recognizes that a lot can be "lost in the translation" when a non-Spanish speaking attorney has to rely on a translation by an interpreter for a Spanish speaking client. The ability to actually speak Spanish helps establish a rapport with that client as well.

Joe is hardworking, dedicated, and detail-oriented and knows how to prepare a case for trial. He is aggressive but ethical in all of his dealings with other attorneys. Although the nature of Joe's practice consists mostly of fighting insurance company lawyers from mostly large law firms, he is not intimidated by anyone or anything. He sees every legal battle as a challenge and every large law firm as just "the opposition," because, he knows that all lawyers went to the same law schools, they all know the same things, and they are bound by the same laws. It's what a lawyer is made of that matters, not where he went to law school or how many names are on the letterhead.

Joe strives to obtain justice for all of his clients. He is proud to fight for victims of injustice and does all that he can to achieve favorable results for them.

Stacy Alford

Stacy Alford grew up in Tyler, Texas. Ms. Alford obtained dual degrees in Civil Engineering and Geology from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. In 1992, she became a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas. For over 17 years, Ms. Alford worked as an engineer in Texas and Germany. She worked for the United States Military Community Activity, Engineering Plans and Services Division in Ansbach, Germany at the time the Berlin Wall came down. As a military wife, she began working in her husband's unit helping families deal with the anxiety associated with both short and long deployments and war.

Once back in the United States, she worked as a subcontractor on Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) construction projects as a quality control engineer. During her time there the in-house counsel for DART encouraged Ms. Alford to attend law school.

In 2004, Ms. Alford graduated from Texas A&M University School of Law. As a student, Ms. Alford worked in the Family Law Clinic and developed a passion for helping others. This passion carried over into her outside practice. For over 17 years, Ms. Alford was a solo practitioner in her own firm, practicing all aspects of Family Law. She is highly skilled and successful in handling family law cases concerning child custody, child support, termination, adoption, paternity cases, divorces, and property settlements.

In addition, Ms. Alford has been an active participant defending clients in Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS) custody cases. She has become intimately familiar with the Tarrant County judicial system. For 17 years she has handled CPS court appointment cases, foster parent adoptions, representation of foster children, and CPS defense. She has focused on working with families and children in foster care. Handling CPS cases can be emotionally draining and difficult. Compassion is required each step of the way as you help parents and children through the worst experience and period of separation in their life.

She has always strived to work with CPS clients and guide them toward the best outcome for their family. Each family dynamic is different, and each CPS case requires creativity and the ability to negotiate an outcome that protects the family bond, as well as, the children.

In July 2022, Ms. Alford joined the Jim Ross Law Group, hoping to add to the experience and expertise of the firm's Family Law Group. She continues to provide excellence in family law and CPS cases and will strive to work with clients to reach goals that are best for their individual family dynamics and to insure a long lasting family bond.

She continues to provide excellence in family law and CPS cases and will strive to work with clients to reach goals that are best for their individual family dynamics and to insure a long lasting family bond.
